Medium, clean and nutty with a gentle warmth and a touch of dry grain

Expert Review

7/10

Orkisz revives the ancient grain spelt for this mild, nutty Polish vodka. The forgotten cereal brings a delicate sweetness and subtle complexity that distinguish it from conventional wheat or rye bases.

As someone who's been appreciating quality vodka for years, this is among the finest I've encountered at this price point. On the nose I get honey — let it warm slightly in the glass and the aromas open up. The palate is where it really shines: Soft and delicate with spelt sweetness with gentle vanilla. Orkisz Distillery has clearly mastered their craft.

It's a solid vodka. The nose has Mild and subtle with nutty spelt grain and gentle white pepper, but on the palate the a mild cereal warmth doesn't quite deliver the complexity I was hoping for. The Medium is a bit brief. Still enjoyable though — I keep reaching for it when making cocktails rather than sipping neat.
